Hi!
Today I was singing with a brand new group of 3 year olds who were all just beginning their first preschool experience. I thought it would be fun to sing a song about colors. I like to use this song in the beginning of the school year as a fun way to help children learn their colors. All of the children were sitting in a circle around me, and I was asking each child what color either their shoes or their shirt or their pants were. Then I was making it personal and would use their name and sing about the colors of their clothing for that particular day. After singing my way around the circle, asking each child about their colors, I came to a little girl who was staring at me intently. I asked her what color her shirt was. She looked down at her shirt and then looked back at me. She didn’t answer. She looked back down at her shirt again and seemed to ponder the question. It was obvious she really didn’t know what color her shirt was. Suddenly, with much gusto and excitment, she blurted out, “I don’t know what color my shirt is, but my shoes are white!”
Now I call that creativity and ingenuity! If you don’t know the answer to one question, make up another one and answer that!!! I love it!
