March 7th, 2012—It’s Almost Here!
I can feel it in the air. I can hear it. I can smell it. In 4 days we can turn our clocks ahead to Daylight Savings Time and 2 weeks from today it will be spring–happy, wonderful, glorious spring! My colleague, Cheryl Waddell, penned the following poem that sums up all of my feelings of this fabulous time of year:
EARTH IN SPRING
The Earth stretches her long green arms,
And blinks her sky blue eyes,
She looks about, then smiles,
And when she happily sighs—
Ice melts, brooks babble,
Nesting robins sing,
Flowers bloom, leaves unfurl—
Suddenly, it’s spring. © Cheryl Elizabeth Waddell
Today it is 55 degrees outside. The birds are chirping merrily, the squirrels are prancing about, the bears in my neighborhood have woken up and I can even spot a few crocus leaves trying to burst up through the melting snow. This marvelous season always inspires me to write songs. On my Easter CD, “Kids! Hopping Into Easter With Fern!”, track 7, you will find my song Here Comes Spring. This song was born through the collaborative efforts of me and my father-in-law, Walter Michonski. Take a listen.
It will boost your spirits and send you out into nature where you can feel, hear and smell spring. It’s almost here!
