November 21, 2012—I wish you a safe and peaceful trip this Thanksgiving!
Everyone is excited and ready to dip into the delicious turkey and all the fixings we love to share with our families on Thanksgiving Day. However, before you have the opportunity to sit down at one of your favorite meals of the year, you have to get there! For some people it requires a quick trip down the road to the next town to get to Grandma’s house. However, for other people it’s a long, tiring trip either by plane, train or car. The next challenge, if you have children, is getting them all set and packed up for the long ride ahead.
I wrote a blog for Budget Travel listing various ideas that will help you either get your kids to fall asleep on the trip or at least make the traveling more pleasant for everyone involved. Go to: http://www.budgettravel.com/blog/tricks-help-kids-fall-asleep-long-trips,12650/ to see what I wrote.
My suggestions range from just the right kind of music to lull your child to sleep to the perfect snacks, games and activities to help pass the time. Getting stuck in a traffic jam or circling an airport for hours can be stressful enough, but if you add a frustrated, hungry, bored child to the mix, you and everyone around you is going to be in for a rough ride. I hope my suggestions bring you some peace of mind.
Happy Thanksgiving, hugs to your children and may love and joy surround you this holiday weekend. Here’s to safe traveling!
