April 8th, 2015—Exploring the world with kids!
Imagine being dropped off on a planet you’ve never seen before. How would you feel? What would you do? I know I would look around with wide eyes and start exploring. I would want to discover everything possible about my new planet. I believe our children feel the same way. From the minute they enter our world, they are filled with wonder and amazement. They look, listen, taste, smell and touch everything within their grasp. It is our job as parents and educators to guide our kids with their explorations. If you can put yourself into your children’s shoes, then you can share in their joy as they discover our amazing planet and all that it has to offer.
Obviously it is exciting to explore our natural environment, but we can also discover our history, our creativity and our future by visiting a variety of different museums. Don’t be afraid to bring your children into museums because they are young. Little ones have brilliant minds looking to discover anything new, including what their own interests are. Figuring this out is an exploration in and of itself.
I was recently quoted in an article published by NewYork.com. It’s all about simple things you can do ahead of time to help your kids get the most out of a museum visit.
