This is a year with all sorts of important events happening during the next 11 days. We have St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of spring and finally Easter. Personally, I prefer to have these special holidays spread out a bit, but since they aren’t, we’re going to celebrate some major good times in a few happy days!
First comes St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th! In my opinion, everyone is a little bit Irish at this time of year and anything green is a welcome sight when winter is close to completion! So, put on something green, cook up some delicious corned beef and cabbage and get out your dancing shoes! Here is a link to my YouTube video you can share with your children and enjoy the holiday together:
Three days after this we have the first official day of spring!! This time of year always puts a spring in my step and joy in my heart. My senses are peaked when the birds seem to sing more cheerfully and the world outside even seems to smell new and fresh. What is your favorite aspect of spring? Is it the return of the robins, the joy at seeing the first crocus leaves poking their little green heads out of the snow or seeing the heads of steam drifting up through the roofs of nearby sugar houses boiling sap into delicious syrup? I love all of those things, but I think my absolute favorite is the peepers you hear singing from the ponds and marshes. In honor of spring, here is our song, “Here Comes Spring”, written by my father-in-law, Walter Michonski and me. Enjoy!
Finally, to culminate these fun-filled 11 days we celebrate Easter on March 27th. This is one of my favorite holidays and I have written an Easter CD for young children that will put a hop and skip in the kid’s little feet while they dance around pretending to be bunny rabbits! One of the songs on my CD is called “The Chocolate Bunny.” This catchy tune is actually about me finding a huge chocolate bunny on Easter morning and what I did when I found it. You can listen to this song on YouTube at this link:
I wish all of you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day, a Happy First Day of Spring and finally a joyous and Happy Easter!
